I’ve had some requests for Safety Pin-related jewelry, so I created a few pieces.
I made a wire square that I embellished with a piece of hand-drawn rainbow paper and a safety pin pinned through it. The paper was dipped in encaustic medium and then adhered to the wire. This piece measures 1 3/4 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide. The pendant comes with a black satin cord.
Encaustics should be cared for as you would for any fine art piece. Encaustic derives from the word ‘burn in’ and is a process of applying molten wax colors to a surface for the creation of images or decoration that began more than 2 millennia ago with Roman Egyptian wax portraits.
