Ever have costume jewelry laying around that’s too pretty to give away but not really what you want?
I pulled apart a necklace with lovely details but too busy as a whole, and transformed it into this wax and wire embellished pendant. I wrapped wire around the necklace portion, tucking the dangly part around a curve. Then I took a piece of blue handmade paper and dipped it in encaustic medium to embellish the back of the new pendant.
This pendant measures 3 inches long, 1 5/8 inches wide and 1/2 inch deep. The pendant comes with a black satin cord.
Encaustics should be cared for as you would for any fine art piece. Encaustic derives from the word “burn in” and is a process of applying molten wax colors to a surface for the creation of images or decoration that began more than 2 millennia ago with Roman Egyptian wax portraits.
