As a World girl, I always have fun looking up definitions and perusing the dictionary. I had a loose page in my scrap stack and liked the combination of the Myxo letters. The front pertains to myxogastria and on the back is a section related to myxomycetous.
I shaped steel wire to fit the section I wanted to use, and added a mini circle as an embellishment. The top circle has the letter m in it. The dictionary paper was dipped in encaustic medium (beeswax and resin) and then attached to the steel wire round. This pendant measures 2 inches tall by 1 1/2 inches wide.
The pendant comes with a black satin cord.
Encaustics should be cared for as you would for any fine art piece. Encaustic derives from the word “burn in” and is a process of applying molten wax colors to a surface for the creation of images or decoration that began more than 2 millennia ago with Roman Egyptian wax portraits.
