It is time for another art pop-up! My Malachites are participating in ART Lakeview 2013, a juried art installation that creates a strolling gallery experience on Lincoln Avenue.
Sponsored by the Lakeview Chamber of Commerce and SSA 27, the event promotes local businesses in the Lakeview are as well as local artists. The show opens on Thursday September 26, 6-8 p.m. with a “Meet the Artist” reception at The Dog and Fox (formerly The Dog’s Bollox) on 3210 N. Lincoln Avenue.
The art show runs from September 27th through October 20th and my Malachites diptych will be at Powell’s Bookstore at 2850 N Lincoln Ave.
Powell’s Bookstores, Chicago has been recycling ideas to the world for the over 40 years. It has three independent retail stores in Hyde Park, University Village and Lakeview, each with well over a quarter million quality used, rare, and discounted books. It reminds me of Funny Face’s bookstore, albeit larger.
The artist line-up also includes FUSEDChicago members Katsy Johnson and Brad Hook, whose works will be at the Lakeview Chamber of Commerce, 1409 W. Addison and Waxman Candles, 3044 N. Lincoln Ave., respectively.
The full roster of artists is: Barbara Leahy-Edwards, James V Allen, Dafina Castro, Greg Znajda, George Larson, Jackie Hilmes, Scott Footer, Doug Haight, Derin Baratka, Steve Connell, Azadeh Hussaini, Joey Korom, Alison Bixby, Sue Goldsmith, Victoria Kowalczyk, Ana Pizarro, Will Knight, Angela Garbot, Katsy Johnson, Christopher Newman, Lynnda Pardoe, Douglas Boehm, Alison Bixby, Rine Boyer, Angela Garbot, Laura Tetrault, Maike van Wijk, Mishu Hilmy, Beverly Alice Nash, Kristin Bruni, Justin Pauly, Jean Nerenberg, Oluwafunmilayo Ajayi, Brad Hook.
I look forward to strolling the exhibit and learning more about the Lakeview community. Exploring different neighborhoods is such fun!
