A year or two ago a friend invited me to the Berwyn Craft & Vintage Market, and I finally applied. So once I return from Bead & Button, I will pack up my stakes and ornaments to explore this new-to-me suburb. The Craft & Vintage Market is slated for Saturday, June 16 from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Friendly Tap, 6733 Roosevelt Road in Berwyn, Illinois.
The handmade community of Berwyn is rich with makers, artists and small businesses. The monthly JLH C&V Market is a way to showcase and support that creativity, while also bringing our beautifully diverse community together. The pop-up shops for June 16th are as follows:
Maikes Marvels, whom you know well!
CN Factory: At CN Factory we make screen prints that mash up our love of all things nerdy with a little hometown pride. The perfect gift for the hard to shop for.
LargoMade: Ryan Largo is a Berwyn based leather craftsman that makes one of a kind wallets, purses, flasks, mason mugs, wall hangers and other assorted leather goods. LargoMade merges classic leather craft with the classic imagery from Americana, traditional tattoo flash design and backstreet graffitti to create heirloom quality usable and enjoyable keepsakes. All items are hand tooled, dyed and sewn from bare American produced veg tanned leather. I’ll have a wide variety of goods to purchase and take home with you at the show but I’m always glad to talk about a special piece that you’d like to commission.
Vayas Homegrown Health + Beauty: Handcrafted small batch health + beauty products that are made from herbs & essential oils. Product line includes mood sprays, scrubs, serums, lip balms, soaps and body butters. These products soothe the mind, body & soul.
Josh Benkert Tintype Photography: Offering on site, tintype photography, portrait sessions. These photos are one of the earliest forms of photography, dating back to 1850. The process requires a very large amount of lighting and for photo subjects to sit still for several seconds. 20 minutes post shoot, a dried plate/tintype will be available to take home. Need a unique gift? Look no further. Gift a tintype photo shoot. A perfect keepsake of gift for the person who seems to have everything.
Monstrochika: The C&V is thrilled to announce the work of Naomi Martinez, aka Monstrochika. Her works are inspired by Japanese animation and the Superflat art movement, independent comics, nature and growing up in the Windy City . Mediums include traditional illustration, painting, D.I.Y. comics and zines, doll-making and spray-painted mural work.
Naughty Pig Studios: A combination of Jewelry – brooches and pendants, Soft Sculptures – free standing pillow terrariums, plants, and houses, Ornaments, and Framed Embroideries. The variety of items are visually tied together by a strong but unique mix of techniques and imagery that features the playful combination of domestic artifacts and elements of nature.
Mojo Owl: A night-owl that loves making jewelry with raw gem stones. Just like each of Mojo Owl’s creations, each raw gem is one of a kind. Treat yourself or a loved one to some beautiful Mojo.
Soulscape Tarot Card readings with Deidre Como: Tarot Readings to inspire you to live your best life! A Reading and Healing with Deidre is designed to bring you clarity and guidance when you are feeling lost and confused. By tapping into the encouraging guidance of the angels, Deidre will help you dig into what blockages your are facing and give you suggestions on how to overcome them. After completing the reading, Deidre will sit with you to call in the angelic energies that can best assist you. This healing session will surround you in love and light to fill in the gaps where your progress is lacking.
Megan Lee Designs: A Berwyn favorite and C&V staple will be available again this month! Offering screen-printed t-shirts, totes, mugs & onesies, MLD has fashions for all your friends and family. Megan’s designs and phrases are both whimsical & unique. Most recognizable for her State of Mind T’s, MLD clothing makes the perfect gift for all ages. Don’t forget to buy your Berwyn Love t-shirt, featuring the infamous Berwyn Car Spike.
Jessy Laubis Handmade: JLH creates artworks that don’t require a space on the wall to be enjoyed. Hand painted, drawn & fabric cut elements are both machine & hand sewn into pillows, heirloom dolls & soft sculptures. Custom orders accepted.
As always, this is a free, family-friendly event. Bring a friend, grab a coffee (or Bloody Mary) & enjoy your neighborhood market!
