While I am busy in the studio preparing for the Woman’s Club of Evanston Holiday Bazaar, My Swarm and Beehive are still having a fabulous party at Ice House Gallery. With the first snow, it is wonderful to enter this oasis of flora and fauna and remember warmer days.
This month, the gallery is hosting several wonderful events during which you can admire the work by 40+ artists and take in some wonderful artistic experiences. On Saturday, November 16, Ice House Gallery is hosting a book launch and a Qi Gong and painting workshop.
The MilaMar Book Launch is Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. at 609 South Boulevard in Evanston. “MilaMar” is a story about a passion for life; it is a testimony about harsh life lessons and sublime sacrifice for love. “MilaMar” is a novel about the truth that hurts and pain that becomes the heaviest truth of our lives.
Love is not consumed in our anxieties and passions. Only when it receives the power of action and the virtue of sacrifice, and is worth it, only when standing in the face of death, because only then it has the chance to reach eternity.
Mila Filipovic was able to bear the testimony of such love, the holy ground deserving only of the sincerest, and of those who found meaning in love, and in suffering grace. Mila Filipovic is a Serbian author and journalist, who lives in Chicago. This is her third book – she co-authored the novel “Concentric Circles” in 2000 and published a selection of op-eds “If looks can kill” in 2014.
