This lovely angel honors the earth and the trees with its leaf design. I hand-bent steel wire into an angel shape on Now That’s A Jig! and gave this angel a swirly embellishment. Then I took handmade green paper, along with a piece that has a leaf embedded, and dipped it into encaustic medium. The end-result makes for a lovely green translucent angel reminiscent of wood fairies.
The angel measures 4 inches wide by 3 inches tall and comes with a green satin ribbon for hanging.
Encaustics should be cared for as you would for any fine art piece. Encaustic derives from the word ‘burn in’ and is a process of applying molten wax colors to a surface for the creation of images or decoration that began more than 2 millennia ago with Roman Egyptian wax portraits.
