For my gothy friends, I made an angel that veers toward the dark side. This black angel was created out of 26-gauge steel wire and embellished with a black resin flower. Then I used silver-painted black tissue paper that was dipped in encaustic medium to dress this lovely shape.
The angel measures 4 inches wide by 3 inches long and 1/4 inch deep. It comes with a silver satin ribbon for hanging. Decorate your home with it year round and put it on the holiday tree in winter.
Encaustics should be cared for as you would for any fine art piece. Encaustic derives from the word ‘burn in’ and is a process of applying molten wax colors to a surface for the creation of images or decoration that began more than 2 millennia ago with Roman Egyptian wax portraits.
