A wonderful friend gifted me vintage music sheets among which was “Let me call you Sweetheart.” So I cut out the title of the song and wrapped a wire circle with heart and violin clef over it. Then I traced some of the sheet music onto a teabag for translucence.
The teabag and the sheet music were then dipped in encaustic medium to adhere the paper to the wire form. This piece measures 3 inches long by 2 1/4 inches wide and 3/4 deep. It comes with a black satin cord.
Encaustics should be cared for as you would for any fine art piece. Encaustic derives from the word ‘burn in’ and is a process of applying molten wax colors to a surface for the creation of images or decoration that began more than 2 millennia ago with Roman Egyptian wax portraits.
