Rainbow Angel with Safety Pin

In response to the safety pin movement, I started to make a bunch of Rainbow angels and attached safety pins to them. This cutie has narrow rainbow stripes and pink wings to cheer you up. It can be hung in the home year-round or on a holiday tree in December.

Steel wire has been hand-bent into the angel and spiral shape, after which hand-colored tissue paper was attached with encaustic medium. The wings are from teabag stained with wine. It comes with a green satin ribbon for hanging. This angel measures 3 1/4 by 3 3/4 inches Different color options are available. Please allow 3 weeks for a custom order.

Encaustics should be cared for as you would for any fine art piece. Encaustic derives from the word ‘burn in’ and is a process of applying molten wax colors to a surface for the creation of images or decoration that began more than 2 millennia ago with Roman Egyptian wax portraits.

Be gentle if handling the ornament in extreme heat or cold. It is best to let the piece acclimate to room temperature. Hanging it in direct sunlight may cause some fading over time.
