If you have a puzzle aficionado in your life, this angel is the right gift for them. I used a pour technique learned in a workshop to embed two tiny puzzle pieces into a wire shape that is backed with tissue paper. Then I embellished the rest of the angel with more wax-dipped white paper. One woman bought a blue version to reflect the two children in her life.
The angel comes with a white satin ribbon for hanging. This angel measures 3 1/4 inches tall by 3 1/4 inches wide and 1/2 inch deep.
Encaustics should be cared for as you would for any fine art piece. Encaustic derives from the word “burn in” and is a process of applying molten wax colors to a surface for the creation of images or decoration that began more than 2 millennia ago with Roman Egyptian wax portraits.
Be gentle if handling the ornament in extreme heat or cold. It is best to let the piece acclimate to room temperature. Hanging it in direct sunlight may cause some fading over time.
